Business Development Officer

Role Overview
Tarra Agility Africa is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Business Development Officer to support the firm’s growth across its Legal, Tax, and Audit service lines.
This is not a direct sales role. Business origination and deal closure are led by Partners. The Business Development Officer will support the full business development cycle through research, CRM management, proposal development (including RFPs), coordination, and client engagement.
This role is ideal for candidates with early experience in a professional services environment (Legal, Tax, Audit, or Big 4) who are looking to build a strong foundation in business development within a dynamic firm.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Business Development & Deal Support
- Identify and support qualification of new business opportunities
- Support Partners in originating and converting leads into engagements
- Coordinate and support preparation of proposals, pitch decks, and RFP responses
- Prepare client presentations and supporting materials
CRM, Pipeline & Follow-Up Management
- Own and maintain the firm’s CRM system, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records
- Track all business development opportunities and maintain the BD pipeline
- Proactively manage client follow-ups, meeting actions, and next steps
- Generate periodic pipeline and BD activity reports
Client Engagement & Relationship Support
- Support client onboarding and engagement processes
- Build and maintain relationships with clients and prospects
- Ensure consistent and timely communication with clients and prospects
Market Intelligence & Cross-Selling
- Conduct market and client research
- Identify opportunities for cross-selling across Legal, Tax, and Audit services
- Support insights and reporting for BD strategy and activities
Marketing & Company Events
- Coordinate and support execution of company events, client engagements, and networking activities
- Assist in planning and delivering marketing initiatives
- Support efforts to enhance the firm’s visibility and brand presence
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Commerce, Communications, Law, or a related field
- 1–2 years’ relevant experience in business development or a similar role, within a professional services environment (Legal, Tax, Audit, or Big 4)
- Experience or exposure to CRM systems, proposal writing, and RFP processes
- Strong interest in professional services and business development
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and follow through on tasks
- Ability to work collaboratively with senior professionals
Terms, Compensation & Benefits
- Monthly Gross Salary: KES 80,000 – 180,000 per month (based on experience and current salary)
- Annual Performance Bonus: Discretionary (linked to performance)
- Contract: 2-year fixed term
- Travel: Up to 20% within Kenya
