Spotlight Interview with Tarra Agility Africa Co-Founder CPA Beatrice Njeri

Who was the first person who truly believed in your professional potential?

The first person who truly believed in my professional potential was my first boss. I was in my very early twenties. As the only CPA in the organization, he entrusted me with running the entire finance function. One question he asked me that I still remember, was I confident in managing colleagues who were older than me? The weight of the role was I was responsible for ensuring financial discipline across projects and this was no small feat.

I stepped into that role, delivered, and was awarded Employee of the Year in my first year. That experience shaped me. It taught me to lead early, take ownership, and maintain a high standard regardless of where you start.

What does true female leadership look like to you?

True female leadership, to me, is about being seen and seeing ourselves as equal contributors. I’ve sat in boardrooms where men appear more dominant, but I’ve also seen that women bring equally strong, often sharper. The difference is not in our capability  but in our hesitation. We sometimes hold back.

Leadership, for me, is about changing that pattern. It’s about showing up prepared, speaking with clarity, and creating space for other women to do the same. Because when women consistently use their voice, they don’t just contribute—they influence outcomes.

What legacy are you hoping to give to the next generation?

The legacy I want to leave is one of scale and possibility. Through my work, and through building Tarra Agility into a firm that can stand alongside the Big 4, I want to demonstrate that excellence can be built—deliberately, consistently, and without limitation.

If the next generation of women steps into leadership earlier, speaks with confidence, and stops waiting for permission, then that is a legacy worth building.
